Finally.....

Finally, I can share some more news and pictures with you.

Gary headed back to Krabi on Wednesday (04/09), via Bangkok to do some shopping (shopping without me L).

The floor tiling is all done - inside and out.  The bathroom tiling is basically finished - probably just tidying up when all the fittings go in. All the rendering on the outside and inside is complete and the paint colours have been chosen and ordered and hopefully finished by the time Gary's ready to come home, so I can see and share more pics.  Some of the windows and doors were being fitted when he was at the site on Friday.  They do things differently there, putting the doors and windows in after a lot of the other stuff has been done.  All the bathroom fittings have been ordered but I'm not sure if they've been delivered yet.

Here's some of the photos he took.  I think it's looking great.

latest update

Today's update is mostly in the form of pictures.  Gary arrived home this morning and has taken a lot of pictures of the latest developments.   They have done most of the bathroom tiling in all the bathrooms and have started laying the floor tiles.  All the outside rendering is complete.  It's going along quite well at the moment.

Might be a while between photos - Holger the project manager is on holidays for a month and Gary doesn't head back for a week or so but I'll share as they come through.  Trying not to bore you with too many pics but if you want to see more, send me a comment :-)

Ciao for now.

ceiling and tiling

Thought I would share a few photos that Gary took yesterday.  They're tiling the bathrooms and doing the ceilings.  Seems that one lot of bathroom tiles they told us they couldn't get, they actually did get.  Gary has chosen new floor tiles which are almost exactly what we had previously chosen.  At the moment he's trying to choose bathroom fittings - basin, vanity, taps etc.

a roof over our heads

Finally, after an almost 3 month delay, we have a roof on our house - yippee!!!  Holger sent these photos through last night.

You can see in the second last photo, they've started to render the outside walls now the roof is on.  We have already chosen the outside wall colour so they can go ahead with all of the painting too.

Along with the good news though, he also gave us some bad news.  2 lots of tiles we had chosen are not available.  One of the spare bedrooms bathroom and the major ones - the floor tiles.  Bugger.  Gary is going to have to head back to Krabi to choose an alternative.  He'll pick a similar one for the floor tiles and I'll have to trust his judgement for the other bathroom (eek!!)  I'll let you know how that goes!

We're also waiting for a couple of quotes on the kitchen.  We have one drawing at the moment.  Can't share that right now as we agreed not to use the kitchen company's drawing unless we use them to build the kitchen (copyright etc).

Will share more pics as they come through.  Holger has promised to keep sending them.

Have a great day.

back in BrisVegas

Hi Honey - we're home.

Arrived back in cold (brrrrrrr) BrisVegas on Wednesday night.  What a shock after being in 30+ degrees each day.  It rained all of the last week we were in Krabi but it wasn't cold.  Lots of clouds hanging around the Krabi mountains.

It did hold up the builders though but I don't think they actually had much to do until the roof tiles were delivered.  We actually managed to get our first choice of roof tiles so obviously someone else ordered them as well.  Half of them were delivered the day before we left and they had put them up on the roof to start putting them in placeThey had started actually attaching some to the roof while we were there.

They also poured the concrete for the terrace area out the back leaving room for the pool (we hope to eventually get).

We're home now until they need us to come back.  We chose all the tiles for the bathrooms and floor and we also have a couple of kitchen design companies doing drawings and costings for us for our kitchen which hopefully won't be too expensive.   We've chosen bathroom basins and toilets so they have plenty to go on with while we're not there.

We flew home via Kuala Lumpur and spent one night there.  I wanted to shop at Chinatown for a new handbag (genuine knock off) but couldn't find anything I like - who would have thought.

Holger, our project manager is going to send updated photos while we're not there so I'll post what he sends when I get them.
Hope everyone is well.
That's all for now.

not always gorgeous and sunny

Just thought I'd share these pics from yesterday's trip to the beach - just to show you it's not always sunny.  It rained hard for most of the afternoon and showery overnight and is overcast and showery here today as well.  Well, it is the wet season so it's to be expected.
